Hiya! My name is Yoon Young Cho, one of the ambassadors in International Office representing South Korea and you can find out more about me on-line here. I am currently in my third year BA International Politics and Security Studies degree. I will be posting regularly to tell you about my life here in Sheffield.
As you can see from the theme, it will be basically about what is like to be an international student in the University of Sheffield for me. In addition, some of questions you might be interested such as university facilities, activities and about Sheffield. One unique thing about my blog will be all the photos are taken by me!
To start with, I would like to share two basic facts that I love about Sheffield.
First, I definitely agree that Sheffield is one of the ‘greenest’ cities in England. There are number of local parks around campus areas. As you can see on the side, there is a photo from Crookesmoor Park near my department building.
You will definitely see there are many trees all around university as you walk along. One of my hobbies is to take photography of great sceneries; Sheffield is the one of the cities where you can take really great photos!
Secondly, Sheffield is a place where you can see a collaboration of modern and classic University buildings. As you see from the picture below, there is the green-blue coloured Information Commons (IC) building to the left and the Arts Tower to the right. The IC is one of the biggest libraries in University campus.
To the left here is a picture of Firth Court, one of the oldest buildings on the University's campus.
As you can see, there are good balances of classic and modern collaboration of university buildings and Sheffield is a place where I think you can enjoy both of them.
I hope you all enjoyed my first blog posting; I will regularly post blogs with interesting facts and my life in Sheffield.
